Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch for thickening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine sliced strawberries, ½ cup sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Toss until strawberries are well coated.
Prepare the Topping
  1. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar. Stir in melted butter and milk until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour the strawberry mixture into a greased baking dish. Spoon the topping over the strawberries evenly. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Serve
  1. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes
