Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour 500g
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast 7g
  • 2 tablespoon sugar 25g
  • 1 teaspoon salt 6g
  • 1 ½ cups warm water 360ml at 110°F/43°C
  • 1 cup milk 240ml
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted 60g

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix warm milk and melted butter; add to the yeast mixture.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into dry ingredients; stir to form a shaggy dough.
  5. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  7. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, place it in a greased pan, let rise for another 30 minutes, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
