Ingredients
  

  • 1 recipe double cheddar macaroni and cheese, baked, cooled and chilled
  • 2.5 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic or garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 0.25 cups milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • few dashes hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • green onion, chives or parsley for garnish
  • vegetable, canola or peanut oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Form chilled macaroni and cheese into balls.
  2. In one bowl, mix panko bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, granulated garlic, and onion powder.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  4. Place flour in a third bowl.
  5. Dip each macaroni ball into flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the panko mixture.
  6. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry the breaded balls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  8. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain.
  9. Garnish with green onion, chives, or parsley before serving.
