Ingredients
  

Blueberry Syrup Ingredients
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries or frozen
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

Prepare the Blueberries
  1. In a saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Cook the Syrup
  1. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the blueberries break down and the mixture thickens.
  2. Stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Strain and Store
  1. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the solids, if desired.
  3. Store the syrup in a clean jar in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
